Grief

grief

Grief is a response to a traumatic loss. That loss may be of a beloved person in our lives, or it might emerge from the loss of a job, the ending of a friendship, or the failure to achieve a desired goal. If we do not address and express our grief, its power over us can linger and impede our ability to get back to productive, happy lives.

Grief therapy offers an opportunity to work through grief in ways that honor the pain that one is going through while also providing a comforting environment in which the healing process can begin. The counselor’s goal is not to banish the client’s grief but rather to help the client come to peace with his/her loss and emerge from the experience stronger and better able to tackle the inevitable pains that we encounter in life.
